This is the PleeReef; dutch for ToiletRave. Together with Martijn The I created this performance that is exclusively held at or near the toilets at festivals and parties. And instead of just bringing the good old turntables, we made our own DJ-equipment: the PleeStation (Plee is dutch for loo). Instead of records, it is operated with cassettetapes that are thrown into the toilet. By turning the lids, you can search the track.
The heart of the PleeStation is a hidden macbook, that is hooked up to our home-made electronics which consist of some of arduinos and custom made prints for RFID reading, buttons and optical sensors. The software on the Macbook picks the tracks and uses the sensor input to put tracks in pitch and position. This software is made in Supercollider and was developed together with Jorn van Dijk.
Ever since the PleeStation was finished, we performed at a lot of major parties and festivals in the Netherlands including: Valtifest, Sugarfactory, Studio-K (all Amsterdam), Factory 010 (Rotterdam), Ekko (Utrecht), Effenaar (Eindhoven), 013 (Tilburg), Solar Festival (Roermond), Ciccionina (Delft), etc. The DJ-team consists of Didier Partypooper (Martijn The), Walter Closet (Marc Borger), LooLoo (Elles Lanfer), Pípí (Puck Siemerink) and Uri Noir (me).
